Codebreaker – a discussion on cyber threat intelligence featuring INL cybersecurity analyst Sarah Freeman

Idaho National Laboratory cybersecurity analyst Sarah Freeman will describe cyber threat intelligence and her role in developing it at the Codebreaker webinar on Oct. 7. Freeman, an Industrial Control Systems cybersecurity analyst for INL's Cybercore Integration Center, also will discuss attacker trends that challenge cyber forensics and attribution following a cyber-attack or incident during her presentation.

At INL, Freeman provides government partners and private-sector entities with actionable cyber threat intelligence, developing innovative security solutions for critical infrastructure within the U.S. She also pursues innovative threat analysis and cyber defense approaches, and her current research is focused on new signatures and structured methods for cyber adversary characterization. Freeman participated in DOE-sponsored training for Ukrainian asset owners in May 2016, and she has researched Ukrainian cyber attacks in 2015 and 2016 as well as the Trisis/Hatman incident.

The CAES Codebreaker webinar takes place on the first Thursday of the month at 3:30 pm MST. It provides a forum for students and researchers to address their work, communicate opportunities and challenges to a receptive audience, and increase dialogue among CAES affiliates.
