CAES is accepting applications for CAES Collaboration Program Development Funds and Summer Visiting Faculty through Friday, March 8. The funds are intended to provide an opportunity for members of the R&D community within INL, Boise State University, Idaho State University and University of Idaho with program development resources to work collaboratively in building strategic relationships that enhance the mission and vision of INL and CAES within the CAES strategic focus areas and INL mission areas.
- CAES Collaboration Fund provides funding to projects where INL researchers serve as the principal investigators in collaboration with faculty members from the CAES universities
- CAES Summer Visiting Faculty provides funding to projects where the principal investigators are CAES university faculty
Successful applicants in both programs will demonstrate how their proposal would enhance collaborative relationships among the CAES entities, with priority given to projects focusing on S&T strategic initiatives (https://inl.gov/science-technology-overview/) and/or CAES focus areas (advanced manufacturing, energy storage/transfer and critical materials/geothermal).
Funding through this program is subject to INL DEARS/FARS governing the use of program development resources. Therefore, funds may not be used to co-mingle with direct-funded INL Programs or LDRDs. CAES Collaboration Funds may not be used to collect data or perform R&D activities. CAES Collaboration Funding is subject to INL guidelines issued through the INL prime contract.
Funds are limited but are sufficient to support strategic and innovative uses. Funds for INL FY2024 will be granted through an open application process, with preference given to requests to develop direct-funded proposals with CAES entities. Additionally, preference will be given to proposals that utilize/encourage graduate or undergraduate students from the CAES universities. CAES leadership requests that you engage your directorate leadership to validate the value of the CAES-INL relationship. Awarded projects must be completed by August 31, 2024.
