Join us in the CAES auditorium on Thursday, May 9 at 3:30 p.m. for a presentation by John Middendorf on the state of in-situ sensing in additive manufacturing. Middendorf is the director of Additive Manufacturing at Ohio State University’s Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence. He will discuss the challenges of applying additive manufacturing to the space industry and how academia and industry can work together to forge a path forward.

Dr. Middendorf has worked with all aspects of powder bed fusion and represents academic and industry perspectives. He currently leads the additive manufacturing division at the
Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence at The Ohio State University, and he has been developing laser powder bed fusion (LBPF) machines since 2014. He was also the technical development leader for Open Additive which sells the PANDA LPBF machines and AMSENSE sensor suite and has made innovative developments in Selective Laser Ablation & Melting and Graded Alloy Processing.
